Marcia Alvarado born in August 1982, grew up as a young typical tomboy getting dirty, riding skateboards, and playing basketball in the streets. Grew up in a military household where grades were very important and high expectations transformed my character. Engineering and basketball became my life throughout high school and college. Now as licensed structural engineer in the construction industry, I am faced with challenges and problem-solving every single day. Having confidence in my job has made me successful and all the hard work has paid off.
Now that I’m venturing down another road in modeling, I have found a new way to increase my confidence and grow as a person. Modeling is opening yourself up and really portraying many emotions, controlling those emotions and reenacting them genuinely is an artform not easily done. Therefore, modeling has become a new goal and a way to improve my self-awareness and confidence in a unique way. I love collaborating with people in this industry to create unique projects. There really isn’t a difference between the starting five on the basketball court and a creative project team in the fashion industry. Communication, dedication and having an open mind are essential. At the end of the day, if you put everything on the table your end product or result will be successful in your mind, your heart and your soul.
