Afternoon snacking is okay! But if you can help it, try fasting until 12 pm (noon) and don’t eat after 8 pm! This will force your body to burn carbs early on in the day instead of burning off your breakfast calories! Your metabolism starts to slow down at night and obviously is at its lowest point while your sleeping, so don’t eat after 8 to make sure everything you put into your body is actively being burned off! Feel free to fill up on water throughout the day during these off eating hours! You should be drinking at least 2 liters of water a day! 2 Liters is equivalent to a half a gallon or eight 8 ounce glasses! Just remember the 8×8 rule!

  1. DIY Mondays! Make your own granola or trail mix! 1 Cup

If you’re anything like me, you see a bag of granola at the store and think, “Hm… This looks good but I don’t like one, some, or most of the ingredients. Oh well!” and put it back on the shelf. SO – Go to a Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Trader Joes or other grocery store of the sort and make your own!

Or, you can always buy a store bought one if you’d like! Just try to be conscious of the amount of chocolate, salt, etc!

  1. Nutty Seedy Tuesdays! 1-1.5 oz or 1/3 Cup (about a handful)

Snack on some regular or lightly salted Sunflower or Pumpkin Seeds!

Pecans, pistachios and hazelnuts are the healthiest nuts for you to snack on! They are a great source of protein and provide healthy fats to your diet!

You can get these at pretty much any grocery store or convenient store!

3. Humpday Fruit! 1 Cup

Fill up a Tupperware so you’re sure not to overeat nature’s sweet little candy! Use whatever your favorite snack is as a mid work week reward!

  1. Thursdaze Protein Bites! 1 or 2 servings

These can be found at most smoothie/acai bowl/juice bars. 1 or 2 of the precut squares will get you through the morning till lunch or through that afternoon hunger until dinner!

  1. TGIF Edamame (1/2 cup measured with shells)

Full of protein and fun to eat! Not to mention, the de-shelling will draw out your snack time length, getting you closer to the weekend!

  1. Turkey Breast Saturdays 2 oz

Roll up a slice of turkey for a busy Saturday pick me up! If you’re feel crazy, dip it in your favorite low-calorie or non-fat dressing!

  1. Sunday Funday Plantain or Root Chips! (1 serving size per bag label)

Substitute these for potato chips and you won’t regret it!

These can be found at most gourmet grocery stores (Whole Foods, Fresh Market, etc!) They are healthier than regular chips and will satisfy your hunger for a bit!

Happy snacking!
